2009 PIELC Conference
February 21st to March 1st
The Public Interest Environmental Law Conference is the premier annual gathering for environmentalists worldwide, and is distinguished as the oldest and largest of its kind. The Conference historically unites more than 3,000 activists, attorneys, students, scientists, and concerned citizens from over 50 countries around the globe to share their experience and expertise. The students of Land Air Water (LAW) at the University of Oregon are pleased to announce that they will host the annual conference of the National Association of Environmental Law Societies (NAELS) and the Environmental Alliance Worldwide (ELAW) in conjunction with the 27th annual PIELC.

Eugene Tree Foundation's Annual Celebration of Trees
Wednesday February 25th
Join the Eugene Tree Foundation's annual celebration of trees which will feature door prizes, refreshments, and a presentation by Scott Fogarty of Portland's Friends of Trees. Join us to learn more about what we do and how you can participate.

Patagonia's Wild & Scenic Film Festival
Thursday February 26th
Join the Cascadia Wildlands Project and University of Oregon Outdoor Program for an evening of captivating, award-winning film. Sit back, eat some popcorn and enjoy stunning landscapes, inspiring activism and learn about the people's campaigns working to keep the Earth's wild places wild! Win raffle items (ticket comes with admission) donated by REI, Tactics, and other fine local businesses. Tickets at the door. $5 OP and CWP members and students/$7 general public. All proceeds go to efforts to protect imperiled species and landscapes in Cascadia.

Annual Eugene Stream Team Planting
Saturday February 28th
Join Stream Team volunteers for our annual tree and shrub planting in the Whilamut Natural Area (WNA) of Alton Baker park. This is always the largest planting of the year – this year we expect to put roughly 500 native trees and shrubs in the ground. Tools, gloves, plants, a restroom, refreshments, and instruction will all be provided. No prior experience is necessary and children and families are welcome. Note that the planting site is a 10 minute walk from parking areas. To get to the project site, enter Alton Baker park from Club Rd. Follow the park road past the main parking lot and park next to the community gardens. From there, follow signs for the 10 minute walk to the project site. Persons with mobility impairments please call 682-4850 to arrange accommodations. Bike parking racks will be available for those arriving by bike.
