CANCELED: Bat Night at Green Island
July 24, 2020 @ 2:30 am - 4:30 am PDT

Join McKenzie River Trust and bat expert Stuart Perlmeter to explore bats at Green Island! We will be listening to bat calls, talking about their ecology and population threats, and looking to catch a first-hand glimpse of these nocturnal creatures. This event is family-friendly… bring the kids!
Bat populations all over the world are in trouble and those in the United States are no exception. Oregon has 15 species of bats, and eight of those are Oregon Conservation Strategy Species. Strategy Species are those having small or declining populations, are at-risk, and/or of management concern.
Your guide: Stuart Perlmeter was a science teacher for the Springfield School District and a graduate student in biology at Brock Fenton’s lab at York University in Toronto. He is a graduate of BCI’s first Bat Ecology Field Workshop in 1989. In 1990, Stuart was selected as Oregon Teacher of the Year.
Registration opens one month before the tour.
