Beaver Believers Monitoring Training
June 26, 2021 @ 4:00 pm - 6:30 pm PDT

Join our team of conservation enthusiasts! You’ll learn new skills, make new friends, and contribute to a core of community efforts to document beaver activity in the Upper Willamette Watershed.
The Beaver Believer monitoring program trains community members to gather and submit data about beaver activity in the Upper Willamette Basin using their own data-enabled smartphone or tablet. This information is important in helping scientists and land managers to understand where beavers are present on the landscape.
Through this program, you will…
- Learn all about beavers (Castor canadensis) and how they impact our local river and wetland habitats
- Learn to identify and track signs of beaver activity in the Upper Willamette Watershed area using your own data-enabled smartphone or tablet (you can use printable data sheets too!)
- Meet fellow beaver enthusiasts and contribute to important community science research
- Get the training you need to participate in beaver motioning field trips (optional- people can track beavers on their own too) on McKenzie River Trust protected lands throughout the summer months
