Volunteer Land Stewards Orientation
May 12, 2021 @ 1:30 am - 2:30 am PDT

Join us in learning all about McKenzie River Trusts Volunteer Land Steward program! This adopt-a-property program is ideal for those seeking to learn more about local conservation efforts, plants and wildlife, and connect with like-minded people. Through the program, you’ll gain an in-depth look at land trust conservation work and help to care for special lands in your area.
This orientation aims to help potential volunteers better understand the Volunteer Land Steward program, connect with current Volunteer Land Stewards, and learn more about how McKenzie River Trust is working with community members like you to care for local lands and rivers.
Volunteer Land Stewards adopt a protected property and help to care for it with a commitment of 2-years. Some associated projects/tasks include:
- Taking photos annually to help build the long-term visual story of your adopted property
- Monitoring for trespassing or dumping of garbage and helping MRT staff to address related issues
- Habitat projects including removing invasive plants
- Connecting with volunteers like you during work projects on your adopted property
- Enjoying special ongoing-education opportunities with local expert naturalists and scientists provided by McKenzie River Trust
If you would like to become a Volunteer Land Steward, be sure to sign up for the full Volunteer Land Steward Training on Saturday, May 15th too!
