Location Info

The Willamette Confluence is located at the base of Mt. Pisgah. The property gate is located at 34000 Seavey Loop Rd on the left-hand side less than ½ mile from its junction with Franklin Blvd. Registered participants meet at the gate and then we caravan to our project site.

Please use this Google Maps link to navigate to the property for the best directions to the gate. This property is closed to the public outside of events hosted by McKenzie River Trust or partner organizations.

Region: Willamette Valley

Watershed: Mainstem Willamette

Join McKenzie River Trust at the Willamette Confluence the first Friday of the month from 9:30am-12:00pm to help care for this special area where the Middle and Coast Fork of the Willamette River meet!

Featuring extensive habitats that are increasingly endangered in the Willamette Valley, the Willamette Confluence includes six miles of river corridor, floodplain forest, wetlands, upland oak woodlands, and native prairie. Here at the base of Mt. Pisgah, this 1,305-acre property meanders through restored gravel pits up to Oak Woodlands, providing a sanctuary for fish and wildlife in our urban backyard.

The Basics

First Friday projects vary season by season. You can expect the work to be easy to moderate in difficulty. No experience is necessary and tools and gloves are provided. Work may include bending, clipping, digging, lifting, and walking on uneven ground. There is a bathroom on-site. These projects are best for participants 12 years of age and older.

Safety and Comfort

For volunteer safety, please come prepared with:

  • Pants to protect your legs
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Waterproof layers or sunscreen (depending on the weather)
  • Water bottle

What Will We Be Doing

After more than a decade of restoration work, The Nature Conservancy transferred the property to McKenzie River Trust in 2023 to support the long-term care and stewardship of this special place.

Projects vary by season but typically include invasive species removal, and maintenance of paths and trails to support guided access and limited mobility events.

Due to weather and climate conditions for working in native habitats, there are no First Fridays July-September.
