Join friends and neighbors at Blue River Park on Saturday, May 10th, from 9:30am-12:00pm to help care for young trees and shrubs planted after the Holiday Farm Fire. During the project, we will work together to tend young plantings and remove invasive species in this beautiful park on the banks of Blue River in the heart of the community. Join us and learn more about the park’s history and celebrate restoration, resiliency, and community connections. Tools, gloves, and snacks will be provided.

The Basics

You can expect the work to be easy to moderate in difficulty. Work may include bending, clipping, digging, lifting, and walking on uneven ground. There is a bathroom on-site.

Safety and Comfort

For volunteer safety, please come prepared with:

  • Pants to protect your legs
  • Close-toed shoes
  • Waterproof layers or sunscreen (depending on the weather)
  • Water bottle

What Will We Be Doing

After introductions, we will split into teams to tackle different areas in the park! Staff will be with each team to share information and answer questions. No experience necessary!

  • Weed around young plantings so they are free to grow
  • Remove English ivy from trees in the park
  • Pull an invasive Scotch broom patch using a specialized tool

Participants will pick the station they would like to join, and everyone is encouraged to work at their own pace.
