Sam joined MRT in 2020 as a RARE service member, an Americorps position, working jointly with McKenzie River Trust and the City of Yachats to conserve land and improve water security on the Central Coast. After his service year, Sam transitioned to working part-time as the Land Protection Associate during his time in graduate school at the University of Oregon. He graduated in March of 2023 with a Masters in Community and Regional Planning and is happy to be working with the Trust full time. Prior to moving to Oregon Sam worked as a Wilderness Ranger in the Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest and received a BA in Environmental Studies from Ithaca College. Outside of work you can find Sam hiking, sitting by the river, backpacking, or doing something outside.
